Article I: Time and Place of Meetings The time and place of meetings of this chapter of National Junior/Senior Beta shall be decided upon only after consultation with, and upon the approval of, the executive head of Wakefield Middle School. The time of the meetings of this chapter of National Junior Beta shall be 3:30-4:30 the third Tuesday of each month. More meetings will be scheduled upon need. The place of the meetings of this chapter of National Junior Beta shall be in the Beta Representatives room or the Theater. Article II: Quorum A quorum of this organization shall be constituted by a majority of the membership. No action may be taken which is binding upon the membership unless a quorum is present. However, certain matters—such as a discussion of means of taking in new members, the presentation of a program, etc.—may be carried on at a regular or special meeting without a quorum being present. Article III: Standards of Membership Standards of membership in the Wakefield Middle chapter of National Junior Beta must conform to the general features as laid down in the national constitution, and in all cases must be approved by the executive head of the middle school. The grade levels from which members may be drawn shall be sixth grade. The scholastic requirements for membership in this chapter of National Junior Beta shall be all A’s and a character recommendation from the students teachers. Students will have Progress Reports signed by their teachers at each Interim. Article IV: Induction of Members The induction of new members into the membership of this chapter of National Junior Beta shall be one of dignity appropriate to the ideals of the organization. New members will be inducted once at the beginning of the school year. Article V: Loss of Membership A member of this chapter of National Junior Beta may be dropped from a membership if he/she is absent without a justifiable reason from 2 regular meetings per quarter and no more than 3 consecutively missed meetings without a note for a doctors appt. or school game. A member of this chapter of National Junior Beta may be dropped from membership if his scholastic record falls below all A’s. This The students will be put on probation for a quarter, and must bring up the grade by the following grading period. If and when a member is dropped from membership, a record of this action shall be relayed to the national office of National Junior Beta immediately. If a member does not meet the 3 required meetings per semester attendance, they can be put on probation for the next semester. Students that serve ISS for a discipline infraction will be put on probation for a quarter. Article VI: Service Project As soon as possible after its activation in the fall semester of the school year, this chapter of National Junior Beta will undertake a program of service which will be of benefit to Wakefield Middle School and the surrounding community. This project shall be decided upon only after consultation with, and upon approval of, the executive head of the school. Article VII: Local Dues and Assessments The local dues of this chapter of National Junior Beta shall be $24 to National Beta, and $6 are for local dues. Assessments (may/may not) be made upon the membership to defray the costs of special undertakings. Article VIII: Amending the Bylaws The bylaws of this chapter of National Junior Beta may be amended by a majority vote of the membership, provided such proposed amendment is placed before the chapter at a previous meeting.
